My goal is to run a Sprint distance triathlon by April 2011. I'm out of shape, over-weight,and I haven't worked out religiously, ever. This should be fun.

Day Something-or-other
We went walking today. I'm still tired and can't seem to get my energy back. Luckily I have the next few days off so I will hopefully get caught back up on sleep and get to feeling better. We walked about 2 1/2 miles give or take a few hundred yards and I did feel pretty good afterward. I totally got a good sweat going, that's for sure.

Lazy Chris
I haven't been posting...I've been training, just not posting. Last week we got a kick board for pool training and I've been doing a lot of leg work in the water. I figured out that our pool is 25 meters long, which is awesome for distance measurement. Monday I did side kicks for 200 meters and then front kicks for 50. I was tired afterward too. Tuesday we ran and Wednesday we hit the pool again. More kick board action and more sore legs. Thursday, I was tired and I had a hard time getting up for a work out. We ended up riding for about 45 minutes and by my guess, I'd say close to 5 miles. Friday was more pool funness.
Yesterday, we rode out to the beach, which is about 7 miles one way so today, I'm taking the day off from a workout. We figure, 14 miles on the bikes will suffice for the first workout of the week, right? I'm a little sore this morning too.
Tomorrow? Running most likely. We'll see though.

Ch-ch-ch-changes.
So we've decided to ditch the 22 week training schedule and go back to how we were doing it before. I like the idea of having a training schedule to tell you what to do, in theory. In actuality, all it caused was anxiety and made me not want to train so, out the door it went. So how are you going to train, you ask? No...? Psssh. Well, we're going to work on my swimming, because I suck at it, and then run, a lot. We have bikes and commute around town on them so I'm not too worried about the biking. We'll add that in later anyway.
Today we swam. I say I swam about 500 meters before I stopped (it was probably less) and well, the girlfriend, she probably hit 1000. She's like a fish and I have no concerns for her during the swim, or the bike for that matter. She's gonna be a great triathlete.
Tomorrow's agenda calls for running. Yay.

New Bikes
We hit paydirt...yeah, no. But we did have enough to buy some new bikes. Once my ass stops hurting and I get used to my new saddle, I'll be golden. Until then, I'm gonna be walking like I have a dump in pants. Oh, we rode 20 miles today. Might be why my butt is sore.

Bikes Ahoy!
Up at 8:00am for a 2 mile bike ride. I can tell right now that we need new bikes. They'll work for the next couple of weeks but after that, we're gonna be hurting ourselves more than helping. My quads are sore already, this is gonna be an interesting adventure we've started on.
Also, we figured out that it's 20 minutes of walking, not 2 miles of walking. Oops. Guess it'll be easier tomorrow, huh?

Day 1, Sort Of...
I actually started training for a triathlon a few weeks ago but decided to use the Couch-to-Sprint training plan on BeginnerTriathlete.com. Since I was not having any part of a workout yesterday, my girlfriend and I decided to do Monday's off and start the training today. Since I've already been training, I jogged a 1/2 mile or so and walked all but the last 300 yards, which I sprinted. We then hit the pool for what was supposed to be 50 yards of warm-up, 50 yards of front crawl swimming, and 50 yards of cool-down. I got through the warm-up and most of the front crawl before I had to stop. Running and swimming in the same day is tough. I have a lot of work ahead of me. And I'm tired.
